After the trip to Lego Land last night Jackie, Josh, and I went to a local movie theater in Carlsbad to see Taking Woodstock and I was pleasently surprised with it even with all the mixed reviews I’ve read. One thing that reviewers say the movie lacks is the music, as there is next to none great 60s songs in it…I would though argue to say that is what made the movie have even more meaning. It concentrated on what Woodstack meant to people, families, friends, lovers, etc. People know that Woodstock was a great music festival, but I think this film brought out more of the meaning behind it all and I commend Ang Lee for not going the route of having the music over power the story. As for what stole the show I would have to say Henry Goodman and Imelda Staunton (parents of Demetri Martin’s character) were excellet. They played a great meshungna Jewish couple and I don’t think they had any bad minutes of screentime.
